In seventeen areas of the city Gebietsbetreuung Stadterneuerung (Local Area Renewal Offices) have been commissioned as interdisciplinary teams by the City of Vienna to integrate the local population into processes of area development. They serve as easily accessible information centers, foster new participatory approaches, organize residents’ workshops, and cooperate with schools and cultural initiatives. In the Viennese municipal housing estates, the goal of wohnpartner is to work together with the residents to strengthen and improve their sense of neighborhood community, their satisfaction with the housing they live in, and their overall quality of life. Finally, Wohnservice Wien serves as a centralized information and contact point for all planned and subsidized housing, offering the possibility to apply for all subsidized units at their central office or online.
